The XD-E500 upscales standard definition images to a new level using XDE technology which includes three additional video processes to deliver sharper, cleaner images with richer, more vibrant colours and contrast. Three different modes also feature so the player produces a suitable picture based on the type of content being watched.
In addition to this technology, the XD-E500 features an HDMI connection, REGZA Link, DivX/MP3/Jpeg viewer, Hi-Resolution Pal Progressive Scan playback and component video output.
