My TV has HDMI but what else does?

More and more consumer electronic devices are coming with HDMI connectivity to make enjoying all of your multimedia on your TV easier than ever before. HDMI ports can now be found on:

HDMI instaport

A wide range of HDMI™ devices are now available in the market and consumers are now connecting more and more of these to their LCD TV.

When changing inputs consumers expect the source material to appear on screen immediately without delay. With HDMI™ this is not always the case.

With HDMI™ when a new source is selected the TV and the source device perform an HDCP authorisation routine which can take up to 6 seconds. InstaPort technology solves this problem.

TVs that support InstaPort technology perform the HDCP authorisation routine immediately upon connecting the device. Then when a user selects that source, it will begin to stream the content immediately— often within 1 second—without waiting for HDCP authentication.

The Toshiba Regza XV and ZV series feature HDMI instaport technology
