Between now and the end of 2012 the UK will be turning off all old analogue television signal transmitters and switching your signal to digital. Digital TV offers new ways to enjoy your television. You will have a greater choice of TV channels as well as access to additional features and services which will enhance your television watching experience

When the digital switch happens in your area, your older analogue televisions will no longer be able to pick up a signal. To keep your normal television service running, you will need to convert your televisions to digital before the switchover date of your area.

Switching your home to digital is easy. All you need to do is purchase a digital receiver and connect it to your existing analogue television or alternatively, you can upgrade your older analogue TV to a new one which carries the digital tick.

Freeview is the easiest way to enjoy digital TV for free. No subscription, no contract, no fuss. With up to 48 digital TV channels to choose from, there's something to keep everyone entertained. Not to mention 24 digital radio stations, better picture and sound quality and interactive features.
This will depend on where you live. The country will be switched over to digital TV region by region, transmitter by transmitter. This map will let you know when the digital switchover will happen in your area. Remember, it’s never too early to get your home ready for the switch.
